The Australian and Queensland Governments established the Queensland Wetlands Program to conserve and manage wetlands in Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef catchment. This program provided financial support to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority for the development of education products such as the 2006 Reef Beat - wetlands posters and supporting activities. The 2006 Reef Beat education series- wetlands, provides students and teachers with information about the connectivity between wetlands and the Great Barrier Reef. Activities and posters 1-10 are designed to be used together as a classroom resource to enable students and teachers to learn more about their local wetlands and the Great Barrier Reef, while also helping them to become involved in the recovery of our precious wetland and reef communities.en
