Abstract: | The Authority’s greatest ally in protecting the Great Barrier Reef is the increasing public awareness that human activity has the potential to destroy the biosphere on which human life itself depends. This heightened awareness is global. The leaders of nations from around the world have, this year, expressed their commitment to protect the natural environment in words that would have been unthinkable only a decade ago. Our own Prime Minister has expressed such a commitment. |
