Abstract

Each summer, the Great Barrier Reef is at risk from the impacts of climate related events such as thermal stress, heavy rainfall, flood plumes and cyclones. These events may directly damage coral reefs or cause stress leading to coral bleaching and disease. During the 2008/2009 summer, three extreme weather events affected the Reef.
