Abstract
The purpose of this literature review is to provide a national and global review of existing published knowledge about anchored fish attracting devices (FADs) and artificial reefs (ARs) to inform the development of the Authority’s policy position on these. Terms of Reference for the study are outlined in Appendix 1. The key goal of the literature review is to evaluate the potential benefits and negative impacts of these structures in relation to the objects of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Act, especially the protection of the environment, biodiversity and heritage values of the region (GBRMPA, 2019b).
