Abstract
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA), a statutory authority established by the
Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Act 1975, is the federal agency responsible for overall planning and
management of the Marine Park. The GBRMPA reports directly to the Commonwealth Minister for
Environment and Heritage.
