The Great Barrier Reef is widely recognised as one of the most important features of Australia's natural heritage. It is the world's largest assemblage of living corals and associated organisms. and is a source of fascination and pleasure for many people. This complex and diverse ecosystem attracts numerous tourists. scientists, students and fishermen, both from Australia and from overseas.
