Abstract

The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) is an Australian Government statutory authority within the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts portfolio. The GBRMPA reports directly to the Australian Government Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts. The GBRMPA's purpose is the long-term protection and ecologically sustainable use, understanding and enjoyment of the Great Barrier Reef for all Australians and the international community through the care and development of the Marine Park.
