The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority’s timely and strong response to current and emerging issues over the last twelve months indicates the quality and commitment of staff and the maturity of its structure, based around critical issues. The year has seen welcome outcomes from the research and policy development work of many years in the area of water quality. Agreement between the Commonwealth and the Queensland governments and the support of many agencies, industries, local government and community organisations provides optimism for the future.en
