The purpose of this Recreation Management Strategy for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is to: • Provide an overarching framework for the management of recreation within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park • Facilitate coordinated management of recreation with other managing agencies • Set out the management approach of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority in the public arena. The Strategy has been developed in response to the Great Barrier Reef Outlook Report 2009 which noted recreation as an emerging issue for the Great Barrier Reef and identified the lack of an overall strategy for managing recreation.en
